Here are two magazine articles about motorcycle tours through the Golden Triangle in northern Thailand.

    The first article was written by a participant on a 2001 Golden Triangle Motorcycle Tour, Mr. Ron "Neutron" Newton, of Edmonton, Canada. The accompanying photos for his article were taken by  his long-time riding buddy, Manas "The Menace" Dichow. These two men were some duo! This article was published in the summer of 2001 in an Edmonton newspaper. The story goes by the blandish sounding name of GOLDEN TRIANGLE MOTORCYCLE TOUR, but I am sure you will find this story very entertaining.

     The second Golden Triangle motorcycle tour article is about my very first motorcycle tour in Thailand. This was also one of my earliest free-lance writing efforts. One of my main purposes for doing this trip, besides, of course, the fun of going on a motorcycle tour, was to gather material in order to write a magazine article about it. This also marked the beginning of my love affair with the Thai people and Thai culture. Thailand subsequently has become my country of residence.
     This tour was originally supposed to be only a 10-day motorcycle tour over the Christmas holiday. But I was having such a great time, and the biking was so fantastic that I decided to ride around north Thailand again, on my own, while my traveling companion, John Hirst, had to return to Hong Kong or else he would lose his job. I stayed on the road so long that I overstayed my visa and had to pay a hefty fine before I was allowed to exit from Thailand. I just couldn't bring myself to leave any Golden Triangle road unridden.
     LICENSE OPTIONAL, INSURANCE NIL, has appeared in several magazines around the world, and was last published in Motorcycle Tour & Travel in May 1997.
